You're a small business owner with a hot new product or service and you're deciding what to name it. Perhaps you've even hired a graphic designer to create a flashy logo to go with it. You may have ruled out trademark registration as too expensive or even unnecessary because you only plan to sell in your local area. This article will show why nearly every business can benefit from trademark protection, and how a new option makes professional trademark assistance affordable for most small businesses and entrepreneurs. There are two excellent reasons to protect a trademark as soon as possible, even for small businesses that operate in a limited area. The first is that a professionally prepared trademark conflict search will help you identify existing trademarks to avoid infringement. Discovering a conflict ahead of your launch will allow you to change names before investing in promotional materials and advertising, and building recognition of a name you may have to change later. The last thing your new business or project needs is a lawsuit during the startup stage. On the plus side, louboutin pas cher, discovering a conflict may offer an opportunity to create a new name that distinguishes you from existing ?brands? and projects your unique value proposition. Speaking of branding opportunities, the second reason to protect your trademark even if you operate in a limited area is to prepare for nationwide expansion of your business. With the shift toward online marketing and commerce, even the smallest businesses are finding larger markets to expand into. Also, registering the mark with the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office gives public notice of your trademark rights, protects the mark nationwide, and discourages infringement with heavier penalties. Now that we know it's important to protect trademarks, let's examine a new option for professional trademark assistance at significant savings over the traditional law firm fees. A new breed of firms called Trademark Service Providers specialize in trademark research and related services, offering them to small businesses and entrepreneurs without the typical legal fees. While they do not represent clients in court or provide legal advice, abercrombie fitch, they can perform the specialized research necessary to check for conflicts. Some firms also prepare trademark applications and provide ongoing infringement searches. A few providers even offer creative naming services to help clients with the naming process. In order to appreciate the benefits of using these new services, let's continue with the scenario from earlier. You have selected a name and you are weighing your trademark options. You may have read an article on trademarks that suggested you conduct a ?free? online trademark search. Let's briefly examine online conflict searches. Two of the most popular free trademark searches are the online records of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (www.uspto.gov), and a simple name search using Internet search engines. Unfortunately, these searches can be misleading to those who are new to the subject of trademarks. As we will examine below,Ralph Lauren Pas Cher, these searches are only the first stage of an effective search process. They may uncover obvious conflicts, but as you will see below, they do not reliably answer the question of trademark availability. The same can be said for State trademark registrations and searches. In fact, only a fraction of the trademarks in use are registered with the State and Federal agencies. The remaining marks are unregistered, often referred to as ?common law? trademarks. Common law trademarks are unregistered marks used in business or commerce that receive limited legal protection based on the geographical area where they are used. The absence of a centralized registry documenting these marks complicates the process of conducting a conflict and availability search. Locating common law marks requires an experienced researcher using the latest and most extensive sources, searching literally millions of relevant business and legal records. This is where a Trademark Service Provider can help. A Trademark Service Provider has access to proprietary search resources with the most current and extensive information,Polo Ralph Lauren, advanced search technology, and the expertise necessary to conduct a diligent and comprehensive conflict search. Due to the existence of common law trademarks, no search results are 100% conclusive. However, louboutin soldes, the best strategy is to obtain the most thorough search and then begin using and protecting a mark as soon as possible. If you plan to use a particular trademark but your business has not opened yet, you can file an ?intent to use? application to protect it for six months during the development stage. For an additional fee you can extend this period up to two years if necessary. Trademark Service Providers are part of a growing trend of out-sourced expertise designed for small businesses. In contrast to the more expensive ?one size fits all? approach used by big national firms, or the risky alternative of going it alone, a firm that specializes in serving small business owners can be the perfect solution. They offer reasonably priced yet professional-grade services, abercrombie and fitch, a capable staff that supports your vision,Burberry, and the expertise that allows you return to your primary goal of building your dream business. Before you know it,christian louboutin pas cher, your small business will be creating a Big Name reputation, with the confidence that your trademarks are protected.

Russian firm: Iran victim of another cyberattack

JERUSALEM (AP) ? A Russian-based internet security firm says a powerful computer virus with unprecedented data-snatching capabilities has attacked machines in Iran and elsewhere in the Middle East.

Iran has not disclosed any damage done by the new spyware virus, dubbed "Flame." Its origin has not been identified, but Israel's vice premier fueled speculation that his country, known for its technological innovation and tireless campaign against Iran's suspect nuclear program, unleashed it.

Russian digital security provider Kaspersky Lab, which identified the virus, said in a release posted on its website late Monday that "the complexity and functionality of the newly discovered malicious program exceed those of all other cyber menaces known to date."

It said preliminary findings suggest the virus has been active since March 2010, but eluded detection because of its "extreme complexity" and the fact that only selected computers are being targeted. Flame's primary purpose, it said, "appears to be cyber espionage, by stealing information from infected machines" and sending it to servers across the world.

According to Kaspersky, the virus collected information not only in Iran, but also in Israel and the Palestinian territories, Sudan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Iran, however, was far and away the country most affected, it said.

A unit of the Iranian communications and information technology ministry said only that it has produced an antivirus capable of identifying and removing the new malware. The Flame virus is the fourth known cyber attack on Iranian computer systems.

Comments Tuesday by Israel's vice premier did little to deflect suspicion about possible Israeli involvement in the latest attack.

"Whoever sees the Iranian threat as a significant threat is likely to take various steps, including these, to hobble it," Vice Premier Moshe Yaalon told Army Radio. "Israel is blessed with high technology, and we boast tools that open all sorts of opportunities for us."

Israel, like the West, rejects Tehran's claims that its nuclear program is designed to produce energy, not bombs. It considers Iran to be the greatest threat to its survival and repeatedly, if obliquely, threatened to attack Iran's nuclear facilities if Tehran doesn't abandon its uranium enrichment project, a key element of bomb making.

Because Flame is so complex, was not designed to hack into bank accounts and doesn't have the hallmarks of amateur hackers, Kaspersky has concluded that the research that went into the code was government-sponsored.

The code offers no information that can tie Flame to any specific country, Kaspersky said in its release, but a company agent in Israel said "you could more or less put your finger on any Western nation."

There is no indication of what kind of material it stole, but "we know that the computers that were infected were computers with very sensitive information" because the virus can be modified to mine whatever information is sought, added Ilan Froimovici, technical director at Power Communications, Kaspersky's representative in Israel.

Evidence suggests the same programmers were behind both Flame and Stuxnet, a virus that disrupted controls of some nuclear centrifuges in Iran in 2010, Froimovici said. The centrifuges are devices used in enriching uranium.

The two codes "use the same vulnerabilities in the operating system and the computer infrastructure in order to infect the computer system. We do believe that the same programmers built the two codes," he said.

Udi Mokady, CEO of Cyber-Ark, an Israeli developer of information security, said he thought four countries, in no particular order, have the technological know-how to develop so sophisticated a cyber offensive: Israel, the U.S., China and Russia.

"It was 20 times more sophisticated than Stuxnet," with thousands of lines of code that took a large team, ample funding and months, if not years, to develop, he said.

"It's a live program that communicates back to its master. It asks, where should I go? What should I do now? It's really almost like a science fiction movie."

Iran claims Stuxnet and other computer viruses have done no serious harm to Iran's nuclear or industrial facilities, and sees them as part of a campaign by Israel, the U.S. and their allies, which includes the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists, to undermine the Iranian nuclear program.

Kaspersky said the cyber espionage worm came to its attention after the United Nations' International Telecommunication Union asked it for help in finding a piece of malware that was deleting sensitive information across the Middle East. The company stumbled across Flame when searching for that other code, it said.

The discovery of the Flame virus comes just days after talks between Iran and six world powers in Baghdad failed to persuade Tehran to freeze enrichment. A new round of nuclear talks is expected to take place in Moscow next month.

Yaalon, the Israeli vice premier, told Army Radio on Tuesday that the talks in Iraq "yielded no significant achievement" except to let Iran buy time. He appeared to take a swipe at President Barack Obama by saying it might "even be in the interest of some players in the West to play for time."

Yaalon in the past expressed disappointment that the U.S. has delayed plans to expand sanctions against Iran, suggesting Washington was afraid the penalties would send oil prices soaring and hurt Obama's re-election chances.

Members of the U.S. House of representatives returned to D.C. this week following a recess for the Memorial Day holiday.

On the docket will be scheduled floor debates over extension of the Federal Flood Insurance Program which affects some 500,000 Louisiana policyholders.

The House is expected to approve a 60-day extension of the program starting Wednesday after which debates over a full 5-year extension will take place.

The goals of the extension will be to prevent an immediate lapse of coverage for affected policyholders and to allow rates to gradually increase over time in order to ensure the long-term viability of the program.

With Hurricane Season upon us, this is certainly a topic of critical importance for many Louisiana residents.

Tsonga, Del Potro take hard road at French Open

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga survived the weight of home expectations while dangerman Juan Martin Del Potro shrugged off an injury scare before triumphing on Sunday's sweltering first day at Roland Garros.

French fifth seed Tsonga, the highest-ranked player in action, overcame a worrying first set wobble to beat Russian qualifier Andrey Kuznetsov 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

Tsonga, who sparked controversy on the eve of the tournament by claiming that French players had no chance of winning their home Grand Slam, next faces Germany's Cedrik-Marcel Stebbe.

The last Frenchman to win the title in Paris was Yannick Noah in 1983.

"Against such a player, you feel, okay, let's wait for the storm to be over and in half an hour I'll see what's going on," said Tsonga of his opponent, who was the 2009 Wimbledon junior champion, but was making his debut in Paris.

Ninth seed Del Potro, the Argentine who won the 2009 US Open having made the semi-finals here in the same year, saw off Spanish veteran Albert Montanes 6-2, 6-7 (5/7), 6-2, 6-1 in a shade over three hours.

He will tackle France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin for a place in the last 32.

Del Potro, a potential quarter-final opponent of Roger Federer, had beaten Montanes in straight sets on his way to the Estoril title in April.

But he endured a bumpy ride on the Philippe Chatrier Court when his troublesome left knee, which had already been taped, required further strapping at the end of the marathon second set.

The 23-year-old, the only man outside of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Federer to win a Grand Slam title in the last seven years, also needed a doctor three games into the second set as the soaring temperatures threatened to take their toll.

"I was struggling a little, but I had some good treatment which allowed me to finish the match," said Del Potro.

"Roland Garros is a physically-demanding tournament. I have to keep that in mind as I am playing well at the moment."

Andy Roddick slumped to a fifth French Open first round defeat in 10 visits when the injury-plagued American lost 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to France's Nicolas Mahut.

Former US Open champion Roddick, who has never got beyond the third round, came into Roland Garros having made his season's European claycourt bow only in Dusseldorf last week where he lost all three matches.

Now ranked at 29 in the world, Roddick has been battling hamstring and hip problems for most of the year.

"Down two sets, it's not where you want to be," said Roddick. "I move horrendously on this stuff, I feel like I am shuffling around. I made a choice to play and I lost."

Also making the last 64 was 2003 champion Juan Carlos Ferrero, who defeated French wildcard Jonathan Dasnieres de Veigy 6-1, 6-4, 6-3.

In the women's event, US Open champion Samantha Stosur had the honour of being the first player into the second round, brushing aside Britain's Elena Baltacha.

The Australian sixth seed, the 2010 runner-up to Francesca Schiavone, took just over an hour to see off the 68th-ranked Baltacha 6-4, 6-0 on Philippe Chatrier court.

Joining Stosur in the next round were former champions, Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova and Ana Ivanovic of Serbia.

Kuznetsova, the 2009 winner, marked her 40th Grand Slam appearance with a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 win over Croatian world number 117 Mirjana Lucic.

Serbian 13th seed Ivanovic, the 2008 champion, was also a first day winner, cruising past Spain's Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino 6-1, 6-1 in under an hour.

Venus Williams battled back from a set down to defeat Argentine teenager Paula Ormaechea 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Williams, seven-times a Grand Slam title winner and runner-up here to sister Serena in 2002, faces either Polish third seed Agnieszka Radwanska or Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia for a place in the third round.

The American is now ranked 53 in the world after battling energy-sapping Sjogren's Syndrome.

World number one Djokovic kicks off his bid for an historic Grand Slam on Monday when he tackles Italian claycourter Potito Starace.

The top seed is just seven wins away from becoming only the third man to hold all four majors at the same time.

Federer, the holder of a record 16 Grand Slam titles, was the champion at Roland Garros in 2009, and he also starts his campaign on Monday against Germany's Tobias Kamke.

Defending champion Rafael Nadal, chasing a seventh French Open, begins on Tuesday against Italy's Simone Bolelli.

Jefford on Monday: Drinking for Spain | Andrew Jefford on Monday ...

It was one of those dreary, wet Saturdays in a wet, dreary month: the UK endured its soggiest April on record in 2012. Perfect lunching weather, in other words. I sat for a while in a coffee bar near to Old St, watching London?s most fastidious street cleaner diligently work his way down Leonard St and back. And then, with ever-lightening footsteps, I made my way to Eyre Brothers.

This Iberian restaurant isn?t normally open for Saturday lunch, but today?s event had been organized by ?Sip and Savour? to showcase some of the Rioja wines I most enjoyed when I traveled to the region last year. The Mozambique-born David Eyre is my kind of chef, too. He?s not one of those ego-laden kitchen pets who?ve spread like an infectious disease across TV screens in five continents over the last decade, but a tortured stove artist obsessed with fine raw materials and their assembly in as simple and authentic a manner as possible.

The wines were a synthesis of new and old. I?d hoped, in picking Muga?s admirably crisp, pungent 2011 Ros? to partner Eyre?s own cured olives (without oil, which he finds too cloying), that it would be a salvo to summer as May Day approached. The rain had other plans, but no matter: the 30% Viura in the blend, and the subtle use of lees, still made it a dramatic illustration of how ros? has been re-thought in Rioja. It?s no longer a repository for Garnacha leftovers, but something shapely, structured and gastronomic.

I could eat Eyre?s Salpic?n of Seafood three times a week or more: tiny clams, baby squid, little prawns and other marine afterthoughts scraped up off the sea floor, tumbled and dressed with tarragon, raw vegetables and a little necessary vinegar. The two white Riojas we drank with it were educationally contrastive. The 2010 from Contino was a perfect Iberian riposte to fine Pessac-L?ognan: pale, subtle and engaging, expanding slowly in the glass, inviting the next mouthful, unraveling suavely and coping adroitly with the vinegar in the salpic?n. Allende?s 2008 was, rather like its irrepressible creator Miguel ?ngel de Gregorio, a more exuberant wine, chewier, fuller and more marrowy. Our 70 lunchers preferred the Allende as a wine on its own, but the Contino with food.

The main course was, hey, meat and potatoes. Huge, succulent chunks of marbled Ib?rico pork, pinkly tender in the middle and charry at the edge, lounging on unctuously soft, oiled ?poor man?s? potatoes, humming with thyme and just punctuated with a little green pepper. Any vintage of CVNE?s magnificent Imperial is always a treat, and the 2005 was as silkily engaging as I had hoped it would be (I?d tried the 2004 last year), turning the mouth into an echo chamber of aromas: wonderfully easeful and restful, the sort of bottle that anyone would be happy to spend the afternoon with, and the rainier, the better. To compare with the Imperial, though, we feasted on the 2005 Reserva from the Remelluri estate. I rated this and its 2005 Gran Reserva sibling so highly last year that I feared a re-taste might bring disappointment. Not a bit of it? I still think these are two of the best Riojas I have ever drunk: perfect balance, weight, texture and depth, and resonant to the last drop.

Wines, in sum, I would love to own. A little research revealed that all of the whites and reds we had served are available in the UK, hovering at about ?20 each. Bordeaux is not an inapt comparison for Rioja: midweight food wines, subtle in profile, and with an evidently rewarding ageing trajectory. (Rioja, of course, was where the Bordelais turned to find claret-like wines when phylloxera first cut a swathe through their own vineyards.) To drink Bordeaux of this quality, though, you would need to spend between two and five times as much. Their value as fine wines is remarkable.

We finished with Eyre?s Tarta de Santiago: a flourless synthesis of almonds, eggs and citrus. The Gonzalez Byass Matusalem rose effortlessly to the challenge: library-dark, vapoury with the memory of raisins and figs and sunlight, as complex and as hard to summarise as the 30 years of history it has shared. ?

As I walked away, I remembered that ?950 million?s worth of debt has forced Jerez to cancel its Vinoble event for this year, and that the city?s bus drivers and social workers hadn?t been paid for four months, leaving them to beat drums outside the town hall. I remembered, too, that one in four workers in Spain no longer have work, and that half of those under 25 in Spain are unemployed. I?m not sure that the world?s wine drinkers alone can do much to buoy a nation?s economy, but the quality of this meal and these wines on a rainy Saturday in London in April suggested that those of us lucky enough still to be in employment should try.

Finksburg man faces animal cruelty charges in kitten's death

Michael Almony of Finksburg faces more than three years in jail and a $6,000 fine for throwing a kitten on the ground and running over it several times in his Ford pickup truck, police said.

Baltimore County police arrested Almony, 59, of the 3300 block of Old Gamber Road, Thursday after an anonymous person turned in a video from a parking lot on Main Street in Reisterstown that shows the incident, which occurred around 6:45 p.m. April 11, police said.

The video was presented to police on May 12.

Almony allegedly threw the kitten on the ground next to a truck, got into the truck, pulled forward to run the animal over, backed up and ran over it again, pulled forward and backed up to run over it a third time, police said. Police said he then stopped to look at the animal and pulled out of the parking lot.

The kitten appeared to be a stray from a nearby litter.

Almony was charged with animal cruelty and animal mutilation. His trial is set for Sept. 5 in Catonsville. He was released on $10,000 bail.

The animal cruelty charge is a misdemeanor that could result in 90 days imprisonment and a $1,000 fine. The mutilation charge is a felony that carries a three-year jail sentence and $5,000 fine.

Ultimately, strong, healthy muscles and overall physical fitness will work to deter injury and back pain.

Further exercise for back pain relief includes stretching exercises, yoga, and Pilates. Stretching works to improve flexibility and keep muscles limber. Pilates and yoga both work to strengthen the body?s core muscles thus lending essential support to the back.

Some who suffer from back pain find that work with acupuncturists, chiropractors, and physical therapists offers back pain relief through the use of holistic treatments, body alignment, massage, and therapeutic exercise.
